What to do

Apply the appropriate Fortinet fixed release and restrict device-management access. Investigate exposed systems and follow Fortinet's recovery instructions, including changing credentials and sensitive secrets of managed devices when compromise is suspected.

CISA's required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.

What happened

Mandiant observed exploitation as early as June 27, 2024, but did not establish follow-on lateral movement in its published investigation. Fortinet warns that unauthorized-device registration logs on patched systems are not, by themselves, proof of successful compromise.

About this data

This record was assembled editorially. Editorial review: Oct 26, 2026. Editorial selection does not make a reported claim independently confirmed.

A CISA KEV listing documents known exploitation, not necessarily a zero-day; absence from the catalog does not prove a vulnerability has never been exploited.

Technology tags indicate possible relevance, not verified exposure. Confirm the affected product, version, and configuration against your own inventory; KEVWire does not scan your systems.

A personal reading checklist on this device, not verified remediation.
