What happened

Joomla Extension - dj-extensions.com - Unauthenticated Stored XSS in DJ-HelpfulArticles < 1.3.0 - The “was this article helpful” voting widget posts a client-supplied ip field to its AJAX handlers (getDeny, getConfirm, getDenyReason in mod_djhelpful_articles/helper.php), reachable without authentication through com_ajax.

The value was stored exactly as submitted instead of being taken from the connection by the server. It was then printed without output escaping in the administrator backend’s “Helpful articles” overview (views/items/tmpl/default.php). $db->quote() was applied on insert, which protects the SQL statement but does nothing for HTML output.

There was no CSRF token, no rate limit, and the vote de-duplication keyed on the same attacker-controlled field.

About this data

This record was ingested from a data source. Retrieved: Oct 27, 2026, 13:20 UTC. Ingestion is not an independent editorial investigation.

NVD status: Received. Publication in the NVD is not evidence of exploitation.

A CISA KEV listing documents known exploitation, not necessarily a zero-day; absence from the catalog does not prove a vulnerability has never been exploited.

Technology tags indicate possible relevance, not verified exposure. Confirm the affected product, version, and configuration against your own inventory; KEVWire does not scan your systems.

A personal reading checklist on this device, not verified remediation.
