VulnerabilityCVE-2026-106437

The BSON buffer-reservation API in the MongoDB C Driver can record a length smaller than the five-byte BSON minimum.

The BSON buffer-reservation API in the MongoDB C Driver can record a length smaller than the five-byte BSON minimum. Later append or comparison operations can underflow unsigned length calculations and read or write outside the document buffer.

What happened

The BSON buffer-reservation API in the MongoDB C Driver can record a length smaller than the five-byte BSON minimum. Later append or comparison operations can underflow unsigned length calculations and read or write outside the document buffer. An actor who can influence the length supplied by an embedding application can cause the application to terminate or read or corrupt adjacent process memory.

Reaching this issue requires the application to pass an undersized value to bson_reserve_buffer and then perform an affected operation.

About this data

This record was ingested from a data source. Retrieved: Oct 27, 2026, 20:00 UTC. Ingestion is not an independent editorial investigation.

NVD status: Analyzed. Publication in the NVD is not evidence of exploitation.

A CISA KEV listing documents known exploitation, not necessarily a zero-day; absence from the catalog does not prove a vulnerability has never been exploited.

Technology tags indicate possible relevance, not verified exposure. Confirm the affected product, version, and configuration against your own inventory; KEVWire does not scan your systems.
