What happened

dataclasses-avroschema generates Avro schemas from Python dataclasses, Pydantic models, and Faust Records and generates Python code from Avro schemas. From version 0.38.0 through 0.70.5, FieldRepresentation.get_field_default renders a schema-controlled enum field default as an enum member reference after applying case conversion but without validating it as an identifier.

Newlines, operators, and punctuation can escape the intended reference and inject constrained statements into the generated module, allowing namespace modification or preventing the module from loading. Version 0.70.6 fixes the vulnerability by validating enum defaults as names.

About this data

This record was ingested from a data source. Retrieved: Oct 27, 2026, 07:01 UTC. Ingestion is not an independent editorial investigation.

NVD status: Awaiting Analysis. Publication in the NVD is not evidence of exploitation.

Looked up on demand from NVD because this CVE is outside the regularly tracked set (older, or rated below HIGH). It is not in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog as of the last ingestion.

A CISA KEV listing documents known exploitation, not necessarily a zero-day; absence from the catalog does not prove a vulnerability has never been exploited.

Technology tags indicate possible relevance, not verified exposure. Confirm the affected product, version, and configuration against your own inventory; KEVWire does not scan your systems.

A personal reading checklist on this device, not verified remediation.
