VulnerabilityCVE-2026-111445

Wheels 4.0.0 through 4.1.2 before 4.2.0 replaces incoming scope conditions with a primary-key condition in findByKey() and exists(key=).

What happened

Wheels 4.0.0 through 4.1.2 before 4.2.0 replaces incoming scope conditions with a primary-key condition in findByKey() and exists(key=). For exists(key=), production with error information disabled returns true for an out-of-scope key instead of throwing.

Applications relying on scopes for ownership or tenant authorization can therefore load and subsequently modify or delete another user's or tenant's record when the key comes from a request. The 4.2.0 fix combines key conditions with incoming scope, query-builder or where conditions in findByKey(), exists(key=), updateByKey() and deleteByKey().

Other scope-aware finders, aggregates, updateAll() and deleteAll() are not affected.

About this data

This record was ingested from a data source. Retrieved: Oct 26, 2026, 19:40 UTC. Ingestion is not an independent editorial investigation.

NVD status: Deferred. Publication in the NVD is not evidence of exploitation.

A CISA KEV listing documents known exploitation, not necessarily a zero-day; absence from the catalog does not prove a vulnerability has never been exploited.

Technology tags indicate possible relevance, not verified exposure. Confirm the affected product, version, and configuration against your own inventory; KEVWire does not scan your systems.
