What happened

xrdp is an open source RDP server. Versions through 0.10.5 contain a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the NeutrinoRDP module. When proxying RDP sessions from xrdp to another server, the module fails to properly validate the size of reassembled fragmented virtual channel data against its allocated memory buffer.

A malicious downstream RDP server (or an attacker capable of performing a Man-in-the-Middle attack) could exploit this flaw to cause memory corruption, potentially leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) or Remote Code Execution (RCE). The NeutrinoRDP module is not built by default. This vulnerability only affects environments where the module has been explicitly compiled and enabled.

Users can verify if the module is built by checking for --enable-neutrinordp in the output of the xrdp -v command. This issue has been fixed in version 0.10.6.

About this data

This record was ingested from a data source. Retrieved: Oct 27, 2026, 01:40 UTC. Ingestion is not an independent editorial investigation.

NVD status: Analyzed. Publication in the NVD is not evidence of exploitation.

A CISA KEV listing documents known exploitation, not necessarily a zero-day; absence from the catalog does not prove a vulnerability has never been exploited.

Technology tags indicate possible relevance, not verified exposure. Confirm the affected product, version, and configuration against your own inventory; KEVWire does not scan your systems.
